Who Am I ?

About Me

I’m a software developer driven by one simple thing: solving real problems. I got into development because I kept running into issues I wanted to fix myself. That curiosity turned into building everything from Java applications and small games to browser extensions, bash scripts, and open-source tools on my Linux setup. Most of what I’ve built started as a personal need—automating daily tasks, setting up my own cloud solutions for email and photos, managing VPNs with OpenVPN, or even creating workflows with LaTeX and scripts to fix frustrating PDF and document processes. At one point, I even tried to simulate the universe in Java to explore physics theories. That didn’t exactly work out—but it taught me something more valuable: I enjoy tackling complex problems, even when I fail. Especially when I fail. Today, I bring that same mindset into my work. I approach challenges from multiple angles, test ideas quickly, and keep iterating until I find a solution that actually works—not just technically, but also for the business, the timeline, and long-term maintainability. With several years of team experience, I’ve learned that good solutions don’t happen in isolation. I focus on clear communication, collaboration, and helping others move forward, because building software is always a team effort. What I’m especially good at is understanding the problem space deeply—breaking down what’s really going wrong, exploring different approaches, and staying persistent until it’s solved the right way. Outside of work, I spend time at the gym, enjoy climbing, and continuously improve my skills in development, DevOps, and software architecture.

Hey there! So, I've been working on creating a chess game using Java, but I've hit a bit of a roadblock. Progress has been slow, and I've had to backtrack a bit to work around some problems. Today, I spent several hours working on PHP and its features, which allowed me to gain a lot of knowledge and solve some issues with my server. Now, I just need to back up my work. After spending about 8 hours in front of my computer screen, I'm looking forward to finishing my chess game. Next weekend, I plan to work on making those Post on it's own site to prevent this site going any longer in the future, and I'll keep you updated on my progress. I dedicated my time to working on my chess game. However, I must admit that it hasn't been easy for me to sit down and code lately. I have applied to several IT companies in my vicinity, but it's disheartening to face rejection. Nevertheless, I remain determined to continue my journey towards becoming a professional in the software development world. I believe that with time, I will be able to create something valuable and contribute to the remarkable history of the tech industry. To stay immersed in the field, I make sure to listen to a variety of tech-related podcasts during my commute and work hours. It's a convenient way for me to absorb information without actively engaging my brain. I come across fascinating discussions on cutting-edge technologies and design patterns that can be beneficial for my professional growth. Additionally, I watch YouTube videos featuring industry professionals from around the world, gaining insights into their experiences and expertise. I have high hopes that soon I will be able to write software for a living, either as part of a company or through freelancing. This aspiration keeps me motivated to persevere and continuously improve my skills. I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead and look forward to being an active participant in the dynamic world of software development.

It’s been a period of steady growth and change for me. I’ve gained some weight, spent time working as a full-time developer, and continued part-time work alongside it. Overall, it’s been a valuable experience—not just in terms of technical skills, but also through the people I’ve worked with and learned from. Right now, my focus is on my thesis. Staying consistent hasn’t always been easy, and I’ve had my share of distractions, but it’s something I’m actively working on improving. Looking back, nothing particularly extreme defined this period—no major highs or lows. I spent a good amount of time experimenting with different ideas, including projects involving GPT, trying to build something meaningful, even if most of them didn’t lead anywhere concrete. There was also less time spent socially than I would have liked, as priorities shifted. On the positive side, I’ve stayed smoke-free, which is something I value. I’ve also come to appreciate a smaller circle of close friends and the importance of maintaining those connections over time. I sometimes think back to earlier phases of life, especially the sense of community and spontaneity that came with them. Whether that feeling was entirely real or partly nostalgic doesn’t really matter—it was meaningful. At the same time, life moves forward, and so do people. Going ahead, my focus is clear: write better code, push forward with my thesis, and build toward a solid full-time role. I’m also interested in exploring more mathematical and technical challenges, especially in areas related to security, while being more intentional about how I spend my time—cutting down on distractions like social media. Outside of work, I stay active, and like most things, it’s a work in progress.

This year has been defined by a series of new challenges, including one I had been working toward for years. Four months into it, I finally returned to my homeland, Syria, after a decade away. That visit was significant on multiple levels. I reconnected with my family and spent time with friends who were as welcoming and genuine as ever. We shared meaningful moments, and my family received many visitors throughout my stay. Overall, it was a positive and grounding experience. At the same time, the visit highlighted what I had built into my routine elsewhere. I missed the structure—training at the gym, cooking for myself, and maintaining consistent progress in my work and studies. That contrast reinforced how important discipline and continuity are for my long-term direction in software development. In parallel, I have been pursuing my driver’s license in Germany, something I had planned for years. The process has proven to be resource-intensive, both financially and in terms of time and energy. The administrative complexity is difficult to ignore; it reflects a broader pattern of bureaucracy that can slow down progress unnecessarily. While there are ongoing efforts to improve these systems, the pace of change remains slow. Despite these friction points, I am continuing forward. The investment of time and effort is substantial, but the objective is clear, and I intend to complete it soon.
